Hybrid Approach

VHS students absorb core lessons online, then participate in person and on campus in electives and activities that reinforce studies. Students and teachers create deeper, more meaningful relationships with class sizes smaller than typical schools and collaboration across classes and electives.

Ownership Mindset

Students gain the freedom for self-paced, personalized learning. Educators teach, guide and help plan, with support from staff and peers, and those at home. Deadlines are set for an entire course, instead of individual assignments.

Learning Space to Workplace

We’ve done away with models that don’t fit 21st century students. The Village functions more like a workplace, with each grade level capped at 100 students. Our freeform campus is markedly different (there are no lockers and attendance is not taken) and everyone is on a first name basis.

Designed for Flexibility

The Village is especially beneficial for individuals who want or need flexibility for their learning. Club sport athletes, artists and others pursuing passions outside their studies benefit greatly on an open campus where there is no “normal” schedule.
