He served as the head boys basketball coach at Peyton High School (1990-94), Mitchell High School (1994-2004), and Palmer High School (2004-22). Among his accomplishments, Grantz has been named Colorado Springs Metro League Coach of the Year three times, led five teams to the Sweet 16, four to the Elite 8, and one to the Final Four, and coached notable players like Reggie Jackson (NBA) and Tim Gainey (NBL).
